Communication for Lyme Disease Awareness

May is Lyme Disease Awareness Month.

Every year, our community takes extra steps to communicate what it’s like to live with Lyme and other tick-borne diseases.

That’s why Communication is our topic of choice for May.

It can be challenging for people in our community to communicate. Many of us experience symptoms that impact how we speak and interact with the world. And many of us get so frustrated in trying to talk to a world that isn’t set up to listen to us.

We know this community has a lot to say. Our experiences are valid. And the science is on our side.

So we say this to you—our community members and advocates: even if your voices shake, or it takes more time than it used to for us to get your words out, you have a right to speak up. You deserve to be heard.

We will always do our best to help this community communicate with each other, loved ones, and a world that still has much to learn about Lyme disease.

As always, thank you for being here, and thank you for being you.
