Physical Touch

Love Languages & Lyme: Physical Touch

@inhabitoptimism + @generation_lyme collab

Physical touch may look different while living with an illness like Lyme disease. Just like behavior changes, what our bodies can handle may shift. If someone who used to be touch-oriented isn’t responding well to the same things anymore, ask them what might still feel good. Even if someone has symptoms that make it difficult to initiate touch, it can still be grounding for them.

It is essential to get consent for any kind of touch, even simply a hug. Talk openly about boundaries and figure out if there are situations in which you’ll need to consistently ask for consent.

Is physical touch your love language?

Have you seen a shift in how that presents itself since your Lyme diagnosis?
