Boundaries & Gifts

There’s something about receiving that can bring up guilt in many of us, but we don’t need to feel this way!
Setting boundaries around gift-giving is a great way to avoid awkward moments and understand each other better.
This can look like setting price limits or opting out of spending money altogether - handmade gifts or handwritten cards are lovely alternatives.
Even then, you may have additional discomfort around being in the spotlight when you open gifts and want to suggest alternative ways to handle the process.
Drawing these boundaries diverges from how gift-giving is typically done, but asking for what you need will help protect your well-being.
What boundaries could you set to make giving and receiving gifts a better experience? Answer in the comments below.
