MONTHLY TOPIC FOR SUPPORTERS

Lyme disease can cause numerous behavioral changes. Lyme bacteria can get into the brain and change how it processes information. New behaviors may occur to cope with a new (or old) diagnosis or symptom. The nervous system is complex and often creates ways to try to protect us subconsciously.

When the behavior of someone you care about changes, it can feel like a big adjustment. Your behavior may change as a result. If you notice a difference in a loved one's behavior, you may be able to shift your own in complementary ways. Although extremely worthwhile and crucial, it can be hard to remember to do, and your reactions may sometimes be different from what you intended in stressful moments.

Reactionary behavior can be common, with or without Lyme. Forgive yourself in the moments when you react and allow yourself to do better next time. And remember: better does not mean perfect!

At our Meet-Ups this month, we will be holding space for you to talk about whatever comes up regarding the topic of behavior. Chances are, you’ll encounter folks who’ve had similar experiences to yours. We hope to see you there!
