Jody’s Story

Jody, Mother, Author & Lyme Advocate

Alexandra Marisa Hudson

“When Alex was in 5th grade, she started experiencing joint pain and inflammation problems. Due to her athletic activities, the doctors assumed she just had an overstressed body.

Fast forward ten years and over forty doctors later, and the proper diagnosis was discovered. Alex had Lyme disease, along with four different co-infections and MCAS. Alex and I spent the next year traveling cross country in a desperate race against time, trying every and any possible treatment to get her into remission.

God had different plans for Alex, however, and on March 24, 2018, Alex passed away at 22 years old, weighing a mere 57 pounds. Lyme disease had taken its toll on her body.

But, that is not how Alex wanted to be remembered. She wanted to be remembered as a Lyme warrior who fought for those who didn't have a voice. She wanted to establish a foundation that would help others pay for their medical treatment.

In June 2018, I created the Alex Hudson Lyme Foundation to honor and remember Alex. Since that time, the foundation has distributed financial grants to Lyme patients and advocated in support of Lyme disease funding. I also wrote a book, which details my daughter's journey with Lyme disease.”
