Christian’s Story
Christian, Writer & Lyme Warrior
“Lyme disease has been affecting my quality of life for decades, but it was only a year ago that I was finally diagnosed with Borrelia, Bartonella, and Babesia, and began to receive treatment from a properly educated doctor. Like most Lyme patients, I have shin and foot pain, systemic inflammation, brain fog, low energy, and in my case, severe GI issues. I have had eight orthopedic joint surgeries, including three total joint replacements, which really baffled my orthopedic surgeons but make perfect sense now.
Lyme is a battle, and a tough one at that. When you have had it as long as I have, it invades every cell and system in your body. The neuropathy is awful, and I often have trouble sleeping, despite taking Clonazepam and having gone through a Procaine IV protocol. Lyme greatly affects a patient’s mental health as well, which is why exercise and proper nutrition are key if you are going to get your Lyme into remission. There are some days that I just don’t have the energy to exercise, but even on most of those days I manage to do something. Trust me, you’ll feel better!
I am convinced that there are many people suffering from all sorts of conditions due to undiagnosed Lyme, and they need to know that there is hope and that relief from their symptoms is possible. In addition to exercise, I find that playing music has been very good for my mind and body. Stay strong! You can beat this.”
