Beth’s Story
Beth 2.0
“I got bit by a tick in the summer of 2016. Lyme disease can lie dormant in your system until your immune system is compromised. That is what happened to me. I was bit in 2016 and didn’t show symptoms until 2019.
In 2019, I fell down my steps, breaking my fall with my head on the hardwood floor. I suffered a concussion and I feel this awakened the Lyme disease that laid dormant in my body for three years. In 2020, my world erupted. Lyme disease didn’t affect me physically. Because of the delayed diagnosis in 2022 (6 years after being bit), Lyme disease crossed my brain barrier. I became delusional and did things I never thought I would do.
I tried to commit suicide by taking a bunch of pills in January 2020. I had several more attempts after that. Lyme disease destroyed my brain. I got a brain SPECT scan and it showed my brain was extremely inflamed. This explained the suicidal behavior and the delusional thoughts. I was so miserable that in 2024 I tried to commit suicide again. I just couldn’t do that to my family. There were nights when I’d go to bed and pray that I wouldn’t wake up the next morning. After doing this, I was hospitalized. While there, I was put on some new medicine that radically changed me, for the better.
After the new medicine and several prior treatments for Lyme disease (biomagnetic therapy, phage therapy, herbal drops and supplements), I no longer have suicidal or delusional thoughts. I am back to me, actually, a better version of who I was. I like to say I’m now “Beth 2.0”. I publicly speak to groups about my story, and I’m currently writing a book.”
