"I am a 20-year-old college student. I love to make music and hang out with my friends. I was diagnosed with Lyme disease five years ago, and my health has been a rollercoaster ever since.
Growing up, my mother was always sleeping in bed, in extreme pain. I would get home from school and run upstairs to tell her about my day after school. She saw hundreds of doctors with no answers. During my freshman year of high school, she was diagnosed with Lyme disease, and just a year later, I began to get extremely sick. Eventually, I was tested for Lyme disease, and I remember coming home to my mom crying in the laundry room, as she told me that I had it as well.
It has been a hard five years. I know many of you know! I have spent lots of time trying to improve my health. I recently took the semester off from college and raised money to go to a clinic in Arizona. After spending two months there, unfortunately, I haven't seen much improvement. I have learned that it is so much better to go through Lyme with people that are also living with it. I am not defined by this disease, and I will continue to fight for normalcy in my life.
